How To Create Godaddy Staging Site (5 Steps)

How To Create GoDaddy Staging Site

Step 1: Login to your Godaddy Account

Go to Godaddy.com, click Sign In, enter your user ID and Password, and click sign in again.

Step 2: Click My Products

Once you’re successfully logged in to your account. Select My Products from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Select Manage All next to Managed WordPress

On the My Products page, simply click on Manage All next to Managed WordPress.

Step 4: Click Three Dots Next To The Site And Select Settings

In the Managed WordPress section, you can see all the websites that you have connected to GoDaddy. Simply, click on the Three Dots present just next to the domain for which you want a staging version, and then select Settings.

Step 5: Click Create Under Staging Site

Now, under Staging Site just click Create and wait for some time. Godaddy will begin creating your first staging site.

Note: Once the staging site is created, you’ll see that there is no content, it will be a fresh site. To pull content from the production site to the staging site, you need to follow the next point.

How To Copy Your Live Site To Your Staging Site

The staging site you’ve created while following the above steps, won’t have any content, plugins, or themes in it. It will be a complete blank staging site.

To copy all the content themes and plugins from your main site. We need to follow a few steps:

Step 1: Open My Products Page

Go to the My Product Page again.

Step 2: Click Manage All Next To Managed WordPress

In the My Products page, scroll down a little bit and then select Manage All next to Managed WordPress.

Step 3: Click Three Dots Next To Your Domain Name and Select Settings

There will be three dots present next to your domain. Click Settings from it.

Step 4: Select Actions From The Staging Site Area and then Click Sync Sites

Once you click on Settings, a new page will open, you just need to click on Actions under the Staging Site section, and after that click on Sync Sites.

Step 5: Click Pull Production To Staging

Make sure to choose Overwrite content because if you don’t choose it, the content would not be copied.

Step 6: Select Sync

Now simply select Sync.

How To Access Your Staging Site

If you don’t know how to access your newly made staging site, then follow the below steps.

  1. Go to the My Products page
  2. Click Manage All next to Manage WordPress
  3. Select Settings from the Three Dots, it is available just next to the domain you want to access the staging site for.
  4. Now, select actions from the Staging Site section
  5. From the Actions menu, select Edit Staging Site

How To View Your Staging Site

  1. Visit My Products page
  2. Click Manage All just next to Manage WordPress
  3. Select Three Dots next to your domain name and select Settings
  4. In the Staging Site section, click the View Site icon. Your staging site will open.

How To Push Staging Site To Production

Here is the important part, if you’re happy with the current Godaddy staging site then you can push it to the live site (production). To do that, follow the steps shown below.

Step 1: Open My Products Page

Visit the My Product Page again.

Step 2: Click Manage All Next To Managed WordPress

In the My Products page, scroll down a bit and after that select Manage All next to Managed WordPress.

Step 3: Click Three Dots Next To Your Domain Name and Click Settings

There will be three dots available next to your domain. Click Settings from it.

Step 4: Select Actions Staging SIte Section and then select Sync Sites

Once you click on Settings, a new page will show to you, just click on Actions under the Staging Site section, and then click on Sync Sites.

Step 5: Select Push staging to production

Now, select Overwrite content because that will copy all the content present on your website to your staging site. If you don’t select Overwrite content, then the system by default will only copy your files.

Once it is done, the syncing process will take a few minutes. Don’t close the window and make sure the internet connection is good.
